Blubber

Why didn't anybody introduce me to Judy Blume? She's great! I finished this book in the span of a day of shopping and dining out; too good to put it down.

Nerds love Books

It's week 2 into fourth year and ......

I'm so happy today. I don't know why but happiness does not always have a reason. I spent 2 hours practicing on my guitar today, I haven't been playing for ages and my fingers hurt so much.

I wish my window wouldn't creak so much. It's scary. Is there somebody moving into the flat below?

I just finished reading this:

I think he won a Pulitzer for this. It is a good book.

I found this book in St Peter's Hospice Shop.

It looks brand new and only costs 2.50 pounds. I've never read Kafka before, and I was quite excited about this book. It's interesting but I still don't get why Kafka is such a big huha, maybe I have to read more of his works.

This is a good band that I'm currently loving!

The Myriad... sounds like an American version of Keane+Coldplay

There are too many 'I' s in this post.

how to calculate volume?

THERE IS A COCKROACH ON THE PILLOW.

Wrexham tomorrow, more shopping the day after. Yeay, out of this stuffy house finally!

My new current fave band----> Eisley. Don't know how I managed to track Sherri's blog, but this IS definitely a new (old) author I've got to check out.

Ray Bradbury.
Maybe this will stop the Murakami obsession.

but THIS:
will always be in my heart. Mr Beckett I never lied when I say you're the bomb.

It's hard to have deep seated love for writers who are :

a) dead
b) old enough to be my great grandfathers
c) plain weird.

This obsession has to STOP.

Just realised that I've read almost ALL of my books back in Bristol, so it's either go join the Library down at the city council or keep buying book in Oxfam and drown in a sea of books in my miniscule room.

Physics: V= to what?

omg how to calculate volume?

anywhoos, one important lesson learnt. Every cloud has a silver lining. You just have to focus on the good things, or you'll be Mrs Sulky-The-World-Is -Fricking-Unfair always. I look forward to the bright future. God is good.

Can you see the silver lining? CAN YOU? CAN YOU? CAN YOU? CAN YOU?

Every cloud has a silver lining.

huh........ I've been slaving over this stupid project for days on end. Wednesday came, and I was so ready for it. My powerpoint was done, the audio edits were fine, I had my lines and suddenly, BAM!!! technology (or Murphy's Law damn you Murphy!) hits me right on the face. They can't open my powerpoint, and I had to give the presentation I had been slaving night and day over WITHOUT the slides. On top of that, they wouldn't even let me finish my presentation (ckp je la dh ngantuk cis!!!). I was on the verge of tears right in front of the room. Thankfully I didn't,which would've been embarrassing.
So anyways, I was so down afterwards I decided to self-medicate myself with a lil' retail therapy.I didn't have money to spend, so I bought a tub of Sainsbury Vanilla Ice-cream (1 pound) to share with cartoon housemate and lugged this tub into 2 charity shops.

OMG! Nerding alert! BOOKs! BooKS!! as cheap as air.

I bought these:
a) The Behaviour of Moths by Poppy Adams..... her name really gets me.
b) In The Name of Roses....cuz the writer is Spanish.
c) The Autumn of The Patriach <------ currently readin
g this, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. EXQUISITE. I'm into page 25 now and THERE IS NO PERIOD. how on earth do you write a novel without a period? d) Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett... I've been looking for this text for AGES. I've had the online text bookmarked from 1st Year but why would I want to ruin the pleasure of reading Beckett's by reading it on the net? I now have a bonafide genuine vintage Beckett. For 1.50 pounds. I LOVE OXFAM.

I also manage to buy this gorgeous short-sleeved hoodie with FRILLS!

and this.....tacky but worth every penny.... it only costs 25 pence anyway....
now Ms Monroe looks over me while I sleep...it is actually rather creepy....

p/s: can i please join the nerd club now?

I think I should change the title of this blog to guitar AND murakami addict. Just got the internet today (yeay!) and the first thing i did was NOT to check out http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ like I usually do ,rather this is the first thing I typed in google. Haruki Murakami.

I have to meet this man. I have to. He spins words so deliciously that sometimes you forget you live in this world. When I read his books, I'll always feel like I'm walking the streets of Tokyo, rather like the cat in Kafka on The Shore. Right now I'm listening to one of his readings in Harvard a couple of years back, surprise surprise! He speaks English fluently, this small man reading in front of so many people yet his voice never quavered.

Just finished reading What I Talk About when I Talk About Running. A brilliant autobiography by Mr Murakami, this book is like a key that unlocks his brilliant mind only to those people who reads ( and understands) it. His strict life regime somewhat contradicts his characters (in my opinion at least). He's around 50 now but have been in numerous marathons and triathlons. Best of all, his running shoes are of the same brand as my running shoes----> mizuno hence I believe at a cosmic level, mr murakami and I are of the same species.Have to make notes of his writings!!!

AT LEAST HE NEVER WALKED. he never walks. no matter how tired he is he never walks.

look past the guitars, the cat and the make-ups, you will see Murakami dominating my precious novels collections. I really need more variety.

goodnite!

Haruki Murakami

Haruki Murakami, Haruki Murakami.... Think I might have a lil' school-girlish crush on him. (probably a lot!). I've read most of his novels and short stories and each time I finish 'em in less than a week. This is a person, with such great talent for writing that his novels to me are not just novels. They're passages of life from his clear albeit skewed perspectives. I've always felt so connected to each of his characters, more so to Midori in Norweign Wood.(just finished reading it in 3 days! soooooo gooood) What's the point of this entry? I don't know. I would really really like to meet him someday. I want to tell him how his stories have affected me. How brilliant he is (on 2nd thought, probably not. He wouldn't appreciate it) No i think what i want to say to him is that "hey Mr Murakami. I understand exactly what you wanted to say. And I understand what made you wrote those stories. You wrote adventures that you've never had. And in a unearthly way, I feel that I've been adventuring throughout Japan with you. Even going to Germany with you (like the female protaganist whom I cant remember her name did in The Wind Up bird Chronicle). You are just like me. I can tell. You wrote what I would write if I had the talent. Like I said, I understand exactly what you wanted to say...."

okay i'm off to ebay to try and find Sputnik Sweetheart!
